I would think she would be struggling. She was narrowly elected in 2003 over Republican Bobby Jindal by a margin of 52% to 48%. Her poor response to Hurricane Katrina led to Time Magazine labelling her a "failure" in an article titled "The Worst Governors in America. MultiQuest did polling which showed her trailing Jindal by 53% to 31% showing that she has a lot of work to do. A SurveyUSA poll showed her rating from Katrina as 5.1 as opposed to 4.8 for George W. Bush, 5.7 for Ray Nagin, the mayor of New Orleans, 6.1 for Haley Barbour, the Governor of Mississippi and 6.9 to General Honore in charge of the relief effort. There is even a recall movement although it may not have too much of a following. Kathleen Blanco has a lot of work to do before the 2007 election.

This is the hardest election to call, since the electorate is scattered across the US. How do you gage turn out when so many are in Houston, for example. She better have deep pockets and better fund raisers, since the need is greater for her to make sure her people vote ... wherever they are.
